When a rose garden is first planted it is a good idea to plant cosmos amongst them, this fills in the gaps with colour until the roses have grown.                                                                San Mateo.

This is a young rose garden. Birds love the fountain, crows bring stale bread in their beaks and soak it in the water to soften it up before taking it off to their nests. Smaller American Gold Finch prefer the top bubbly part of the fountain.                                                                        San Mateo.
